Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez introduced Kellyanne Conway to a non-alternative fact.
The president’s former counselor seized on vice president Joe Biden’s comments about the Green New Deal during Tuesday’s incredibly toxic presidential debate. Conway tweeted a pair of quotes from Biden, in which moderate Democrat said he isn’t completely on board with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s environmental plan.
“The Green New Deal Is Not My Plan,” Conway tweeted, quoting the Democratic presidential candidate. “I don’t support the Green New Deal.”
AOC clarified for Conway that she’s well aware of that fact and plans to work with Biden if he’s elected president.
“This isn’t news, Kellyanne,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted back. “Our differences are exactly why I joined Biden’s Climate Unity Task Force — so we could set aside our differences & figure out an aggressive climate plan to address the planetary crisis at our feet.”

Despite her differences with Biden on an environmental plan, AOC noted the 77-year-old politico is closer to her position than President Trump.
“Trump doesn’t even believe climate change is real,” she wrote.

The president’s skepticism over the cause and effects of climate change are at odds with the findings of the scientific community. Trump, who downplayed the dangers of COVID-19 despite knowing how serious it was in early February, reportedly said “I don’t believe it” in 2018 when asked if he feared climate change could negatively impact the U.S. economy.
“Who’s the Boss?” star Alyssa Milano even got in on the act.
“Thank you,” she tweeted in response to AOC’s tweet.
While word of Biden’s issues with the Green New Deal may have surprised Conway and her former boss, he’s made clear it’s a start, but it’s not his plan.
“Biden believes the Green New Deal is a crucial framework for meeting the climate challenges we face,” reads a statement on Biden’s campaign site.
George and Kellyanne Conway finally agree on something
The 30-year-old congresswoman, along with Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey, whom Conway also tweeted at, proposed the Green New Deal in March 2019. It aims to limit carbon emissions, promote renewable energy and expand healthcare.
Conway, who was instrumental in Trump’s 2016 presidential run, was brought into his White House as an advisor after the election. She stepped down at start of the month after her 15-year-old daughter Claudia said on social media her mother’s work had “ruined” her life and that she would seek emancipation from her parents.

Claudia tweeted at AOC in August that she would like to work for her to promote the Green New Deal and other progressive causes.
“Let me intern for you,” she tweeted in response to a help-wanted at the congresswoman posted on her social media pages.
The president and his right-wing media surrogates are pushing a narrative that if Biden is elected president, he will bend to the will of his party’s more liberal elements.
