People living with a disability will have access to more services in Crookwell. Later this year, Anglicare will begin offering support services at a Disability Day Centre at the Anglican Parish of Crookwell on Denison Street. “The local community is very to important to us as a church,” Crookwell Anglican Minister, Reverend Wayne Landford said. The service and support program will be offering activities and programs for community participation which will be based on the needs of the client. Anglicare is a provider of the National Disability Insurance Scheme. Disability operations manager southern NSW and ACT, Sallyann Allport, said, “I’m so excited to see how this initiative has been welcomed. “We see this day centre as being a wonderful connection point for people of all abilities in this community, and will reduce the stress on disability clients and their families with reduced travel time and expense, and more opportunities to participate in activities locally.” Read also: Anglicare operates similar centres in Canberra and Goulburn. “It’s important for regional communities, like Crookwell, to have access to services that support and enhance the lives of people with a disability.” Ms Allport said. Anglicare aims to see people living safe and secure lives, as independently as possible, while participating in the community through meaningful relationships, employment, recreation, education, and volunteering. “We want to create opportunities for people of all levels of ability to participate socially and to live happy and fulfilling lives.” We depend on subscription revenue to support our journalism.
