Now seeking community support via Kickstarter, a viable alternative for the legally deaf who do not know sign language but want the benefit of easy conversation.
Mindy Moniz, a passionate inventor and entrepreneur, has announced a new crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to support Hermes Focals, the future of eyewear for the deaf or hard of hearing. Functional eyewear that integrates cutting-edge visual and audio technologies, Moniz was inspired to create Hermes Focals under a belief that communication should be easy for all, including the deaf or hard of hearing, with an understanding that new tools would help accomplish this objective.
Currently in a proof-of-concept development stage, Hermes Focals will combine innovative technology, design, and style to make conversation easy for everyone. Eyewear with a microphone, Hermes Focals will take in audio signals, such as human voices, and use revolutionary translation technology to will generate appropriate subtitles that will then be mirrored for display in front of the right eye. A translation device on the go, this new line of eyewear is expected to forever change the nature of communication in the 21st-century.
While Hermes Focals may represent the future of assistive and adaptive technologies, the project can only come to life with the help of supporters worldwide.
