Sonix poised to see record revenue in 4Q20

IC design house Sonix Technology is expected to post record-high revenue for the fourth quarter of 2020, thanks to strong demand for video conferencing, according to industry sources.
Sonix saw its September revenue climb to a record high of NT$569 million (US$19.9 million).
Sonix specializes in imaging chips and solutions for use in video conferencing for notebooks and other portable devices, and has seen the visibility of orders coming from the sector extended to the first half of 2021, the sources indicated. Also a supplier of microcontrollers (MCU), Sonix has enjoyed robust MCU demand for healthcare applications such as forehead thermometers.
With sufficient foundry support, Sonix is set to see its monthly revenue stay above NT$500 million during the fourth quarter. Revenue for the quarter and all of 2020 will also likely hit record-high levels, the sources said.
Fellow IC design house Realtek Semiconductor also had September revenue reach an all-time high. The networking IC specialist generated revenue of NT$8.17 billion which hit a cord high for the fourth consecutive month.
PC and related peripheral chip specialists including Elan Microelectronics, ITE Tech and Parade Technologies, and MOSFET suppliers Sinopower Semiconductor and Advanced Power Electronics all enjoyed record-high sales in September 2020.
